What is Sideline Cheer and OCYCD?
OCYCD (Oregon City Youth Cheer and Dance) is a youth cheer program open to all students in 1st through 8th grade. This is a no-cut program run through the Oregon City School District (OCSD). While we strive to accommodate all interested participants, registration may close for specific age groups if class sizes become too large. Late registration is not allowed per district guidelines.
A Typical Sideline Cheer Season:
Sideline cheer begins in August with a two-day cheer camp hosted by Oregon City High School Cheer (PCD). At camp, participants will learn cheers and a halftime dance for "Youth Night," where they will perform alongside the high school varsity cheer team at a Friday night football game.
Regular practices begin the first week of August and are held twice a week. During these practices, athletes will learn cheers, dances, and jumps.
From September through October, practices continue once per week, and teams cheer at Saturday football games for the Oregon City Youth Football League (OCYFL) at Pioneer Stadium. Junior teams (5th-8th grade) may travel for 1-2 away games per season.
Playoffs take place in November, open to Junior teams (5th-8th grade) and typically held at away locations.

- Mini games last about 1.5 hours, with arrival typically at 7:30 AM.
- All other grade levels games last about 2.5 hours, including warm-ups, halftime performances, and cheering during the game. Arrival times vary based on the football schedule, generally ranging from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Typical Game Times (subject to change):
- Mini (1st-3rd grade): 7:30 AM
- Youth (3rd-4th grade): 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM or 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM
- J1 (5th-6th grade): 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM, or 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
- J2 (7th-8th grade): 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM, 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM, 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM, or 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Important Notes:
- Sideline cheer does NOT include stunting or tumbling at this time. These skills are taught only by OCJC-certified coaches and all-star gyms.
