What is sideline and OCYCD?
OCYCD is a youth cheer program that is open to all kids from 1st grade to 8th grade. This is a no-cut program that is run through OC school district. If class sizes get to large registration may need to be closed to a specific age group but will do our best to avoid this outcome. No late registration will be allowed per district standards.
A typical season:
Sideline starts in August with a 2 day cheer camp put on by OC High School Cheer (PCD). At camp you learn cheers and a half time dance "youth night". We perform this dance at a HS Varsity football game on one Friday night with the HS Cheer team. Fallowing cheer camp in August we start weekly practices where we learn most of the cheers, more dances, and jumps.
In September and October we continue to have practice 1 days a week, cheer and dance at football games on Saturdays for OC youth football league (OCYFL) at Pioneer Stadium. Junior teams my travel 1-2 game a season. The football game are played every Saturday in September and October, with playoffs the first 2 weeks in November. Playoffs are open to all Junior teams, 5th through 8th grade, these are usually away games.
Games for minis (1st & 2nd grade) are typically 1.5 hours long and typical arrival time is 7:30am
All other grade games are typically 2.5 hours long for warmups, halftime show and cheering during the game. Game time arrivals range from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm depending on football schedule and team availability.
Typical Game times (times will very):
Sideline does not include stunting or tumbling at this time.
These services are only taught by OCJC certified coaches and all-star gyms.
